I am on a form of SCD and noticed a major difference in my Crohn's.
I have been camping this week and eating more sugars and boy,
my body is telling on me! I do much better without sugar and grains.

Specific Carbohydrate diet was initiated in the 1920's by Dr. Sidney Valentine
Haas to treat Celiac disease. He actually cured people to the point where they
were able to eat "normal" foods again after two years on the diet. Elaine Gottshall
refined the diet after Dr. Haas used it to treat her daughter Judy's severe UC. Judy
stayed on the diet for, I believe, 7 years, and then added back some "regular foods".
That was in the 1960's and she is still in remission.
The diet allows no grains - even corn, no starches, no sugar except honey, and no
dairy except butter, aged cheeses, 24 hour yogurt, and no soy.
Although it seems very strict, it's not that hard once you just start replacing your old
foods with fresh veggies, meat, nuts, and fruit. The diet includes baked goods made
with nut flours. It's actually very healthy and has thousands of testimonials.
The main problem is that with all the additives in food these days, everything needs to
be made from scratch - Mayo, ketchup, mustard - etc. Unless highly motivated, people
would rather suffer or take drugs than spend so much time in the kitchen.
Even though I don't have Crohn's, I went on the diet for/with my daughter who does.
She is not very good about it, but I went off, and am now back on it as I simply feel so
much better and nagging health issues resolve while on it. I really believe that the combo
of LDN and SCD is a Godsend for Colitus sufferers.

Click on above link. SCD is Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I believe it involves
eliminating all grains from diet and other things I'm not sure of.

Supposed to work for any/all digestive/intestina l/bowel problems.
